photo of the week
Every week I'm on the road I choose a photo of the week. Sometimes it's a fantastic photo, other times it's all about what that shot meant to me. Be sure to let me know what you think.
While this photo isn't earth shattering (what's with the dog you may ask??), the story is what is behind this weeks choice.
I loved the Jeju Olle so much. It is such a great idea. I had done 3 trails and Mt Halla at this point and true to form had a very surreal experience on trail 8. I stopped at a cafe at the start for coffee (as you do) and when I left the dog from the cafe followed me. I shoo'd him for about a km before I turned around and walked back with him, explaining to the cafe owner that he was following me. In very halting english she told me "yes he love walk. he walk with you". I was a bit stressed but then a lovely gentleman arrived and managed to communicate with me that he would walk with me and when I get to the end, take him on the bus with me and at the stop where I started, just put him off and tell him "jib Bombo jib" and he will come back home. Its 15km I squeal. What if I get it wrong?? Everyone knows him he says. OK...
So off I go with Bombo who walked the entire 15km with me, no one batted an eyelid and I'm pretty sure the locals were talking to him. I go to get on the bus with him (thinking that I'm going to have to walk another 15km back when they won't take him) but no-one seems to care, and then when we got near the stop the driver yells to me something about Bombo and up gets Bombo, goes to the door, gets off and the driver yells "jib Bombo jib" and off he trots straight down the laneway to the cafe. OMG so surreal and the bastard ate one of my sushi rolls and half my strawberries and didn't even say goodbye!!
This weeks photo is pure Korea. Part of a day tour I did on Jeju Island involved a visit to the trick museum. Its full of pictures that are either famous (like the Mona LIsa) or are trick photos. The whole idea is that you become involved. This particular example is a classic. Look at it from the left and the models legs are short and stocky, look at it from the right and they are long and slender. See - pure Korea!
Jenny - photography lover but someone who hates lugging around HUGE camera's so my images are all from my Olympus OMD or my little Sony digital.
