photo of the week
Every week I'm on the road I choose a photo of the week. Sometimes it's a fantastic photo, other times it's all about what that shot meant to me. Be sure to let me know what you think.
I took this with my phone and its not anything that will mean anything to any of you, but it was a really fun hour for me. My first morning in Kuching was pouring with rain and I ran into this very Asian cafe to grab a coffee (it looked expensive) and try to sit out the rain. The cafe was really affordable and fried noodles and egg and 2 coffee's later I was still watching the Kuching photography club working with a Russian model. They were so proud she was Russian and they were having so much fun too.
This is one of those photos that is always going to be more special to me than to anyone else. While I love the reflection of the Paraw at anchor, I look at this image and I can still see Gener and Bong and Emrik and Ton and Donskie and the entire crew laughing and having fun. I can't look at this boat without smiling and that's what Tao does to you.
Sunrise over the remote Palawan Islands the first morning of our sailing trip. We had no idea what an amazing week it would be. I will always treasure that week with Brad, Noah and Jake. www.taophilippines.com
Of course after doing the rice terraces trek you end up with a million spectacular photos of the terraces in their entirety. What you can't see from that however is the back breaking work it takes to produce these crops. Traditionally its the women who plant and the men who harvest. The work well into their 70's and make us look like a bunch of lazy broken down pensioners. So much respect for the hard labour it takes.
Jenny - photography lover but someone who hates lugging around HUGE camera's so my images are all from my Olympus OMD or my little Sony digital.
