If you come to Boracay for NYE you want to drink on the beach, mingle with the crowds, and celebrate the fact that you are on one of the best beaches in Asia. You don't want to be pidgeon holed into a single restaurant or club that you can't leave because you paid a fortune to get in. So NYE - not what we thought. Add to that I had been sick for over a week, Jake was coming down with what I was getting rid of and after spending two weeks already in the Philippines we knew we were being robbed if we went in any of them, so after loosing the boys in the crowd, Brad and I hung out at a shisah bar for about an hour and made our way back to the "other side" of the island. Unbeknown to us, the boys weren't far behind us.
Our apartment at Mango riders was the best thing. The boys had one floor and we had the other. Our apartment at Mango Riders was over the otherside of the Island to White Beach at Bulagog Beach. This was the best decision we made. White beach is gorgeous for sure but the expense of being on white beach over the Christmas break was prohibitive for us so being able to stay for 6 days meant we had to consider Bulagog. SO glad we did. We were 10n mins walk from White Beach, however with the execption of the boys going Jet Ski-ing and me going over for a swim, we didn't spend much time over there at all. Our beach had some good restaurants, laundry near by, a great sunbaking deck and even though you can't really swim there (too many kite surfers and a sewer line about half way down the beach) the constant wind meant that you were never too hot. I couldn't recommend Mango Riders enough. It was perfect.
As the trip wore on Brad came up with an idea for Bad Hobbit Shirts. Then it morphed into Bad Hobbit and the Giants, then it morphed into a Tour T Shirt: Bad Hobbit & the Giants. Philippines Tour 2015-2016 with the list of everwhere we have been on the back, like tour dates. One day when I get a chance I will do up a design, get it printed and just randomly send one to each of the boys.
Overall Boracay was great for the 6 days we were there. We all managed to get over our viruses, we sunbaked and slept, and watched movies. We ate great food, we had our own space, the boys got to wander freely as they pleased and we prepared ourselves for our Northern Luzon trek to come.
